San Juan de Los Terreros is situated in an unspoilt area in the North of Costa de Almeria, close to the border with Murcia, and the charming Murcian town of Aguilas. The north of the Almería Coast is the only natural coastline of the European Mediterranean. It has the best natural beaches along the Almeria coast, as well as cliffs and lovely hidden coves.
This is an ideal location for those who enjoy swimming in the crystal clear water, sea fishing, snorkelling, sailing etc, and is a paradise for scuba divers. There are many coastal,and mountains walks to suit all abilities, and those interested in geology will find a wealth of amazing caves and rocks etc to explore. There is a coastal fort style castle (built 1764) on the rocky headland which has spectacular views up and down the coast.

The village of Pozo del Esparto, with the sea at its feet, and a backdrop of stunning mountains has two restaurants, one beach bar, plus a delightful "pan" lady who comes every morning with fresh bread and croissants. There is an open market on Sundays in San Juan in Summer.
Nearby just minutes away is the New Aguilon golf course. Also, the well known and unique Desert Springs Golf complex open to all, is about 20 minutes away, and has excellent facilities including restaurants, pools, childrens adventure area. There are 3 other golf courses in the vicinity, so there is quite a choice.
At 10 kilometres is the charming Spanish town of Aguilas with its elegant squares to sit while away some time people watching and have a drink, attractive harbour, marina, and fishing port. On Saturday there is a large open air market and lovely cafes on the beach. 20 mins away is Garrucha, another fishing port, famous for shellfish, a bustling little town with harbourside restaurants and bars, further on is Mojacar,an old Moorish pueblo, with winding streets, shops and bars.

San Juan is a well known tourist destination for the Spanish who holiday here all year round. Festivals are also plentiful throughout the area - the largest being in nearby Aguilas every February.
